Dear All!

It is our greatest pleasure to extend this invitation to you and your children to participate in our new event SciFI - Science Fair International.  This event is an attempt to nurture the scientific temper of young minds.

In an attempt to promote the concept of week-end science, we bring to you this event, where children are free to exhibit any models [working or non-working] or any investigation or theoretical experiments or displays.  Want to share or introduce any new concepts idea?  Come share with us in SciFI-2010.

This event is open to all school going children in Japan.  Prior registration is required [see page 4,5 for more details on registration].

Dear Science Teachers and Dept. Heads!

As you get into the first few months of curriculum, experiments and labs we encourage you to introduce this event to your students as a platform for the inquisitive and creative mind to meet peers with similar passions.

You are also invited in case you would like to be the organiser of a small group from your school or are simply interested in seeing what the newest generation is learning and where we are heading.  Who knows you may catch a glimpse of a near future technology or be witness to the rise of a new school of thought!

Looking forward for your participation!

Where to start / What to do?

Many of you may wonder: what can I do? where to start? how to proceed?

The best Science Fair entries are those which investigate something.  The gsomethingh here can be quite simple—in fact it is better if it is simple.  Science is about investigating things, it is not about presenting gall aboutch type of material.

Some Starters:

* Particular questions about things around you

* Comparisons of different sorts/makes of everyday items

* Collecting information of things around you

Analysing some everyday items

and so on c alternatively

* Select some questions about things that you are interested in that needs answers like What if? Why like this?  Why not like that? etc.

Recording your investigation aka What to record?

* the purpose of the investigation

* the different treatments or conditions you had

any things you took for granted ie. assumption that could have affected accuracy or reliability of your results

* any data that you collected

Above is just an idea or starters for you and not an expressive guide line aka do not limit to the above.

Prizes and Awards

We always strongly believe that this kind of event are purely to develop or stimulate the interest in Children towards Science and is not a competition to decide who is the winner or runner or loser or which is the best performing exhibit etc.  All the participants are winners of the event and hence there will not be any prizes for the exhibits.

However as a token of appreciation we will be issuing Special merit certificates to all the participants who have registered and exhibited their exhibits.
